Cavities are areas of decay that occur when bacteria or acid degrade the outer layers of teeth, the
enamel and dentin. When cavities remain in the superficial layer of the teeth, they can be addressed
with simple composite fillings. Dentists can restore the appearance and/or structural stability of the
tooth by filling the cavity with composite material and contouring/polishing the tooth to reestablish its
original shape. Bonding is a process by which we can use the same composite material to delicately,
with minimal invasiveness (i.e. little to no drilling!), close minor gaps between teeth and address
chipped teeth. Bonding can be a cosmetic procedure as well, touching up a great smile!
